Inc. Magazine Profiles Alabama Poster Child for Private Economic Growth
Spartan Value Investors, LLC recently earned a spot on Inc. Magazine’s 2014 list of 5000 fastest growing private companies in America. Spartan ranked No. 246, making them the fastest growing company in Birmingham and fourth in the state of Alabama. Founded in 2010, the company boasted $3.4 million in revenue last year and 1,866 percent growth in the past three years.
In conjunction with the list, Inc. published an article entitled Top 10 Traits of Inc. 500 Entrepreneurs which described the traits instilled in the CEOs of America’s 500 fastest growing companies. Risk taker was listed as No. 1, and Spartan Value Investors CEO Clayton Mobley was spotlighted in a supporting article entitled When Entrepreneurial Success Requires Throwing Your Business in the Garbage for Mobley’s decision to completely change the business model to combat the inherent riskiness of the industry. Similarly, Mobley and Spartan were featured in Inc.’s article, Inside the Mind of the Entrepreneur, outlining what drives the success of the top 500 company. The article again describes Mobley’s decision to take the risk in adjusting his company’s business model which resulted in skyrocketing growth up to 440 percent and profits rising 138 percent.
“It has been a dream come true to see Spartan Value Investors make the 2014 Inc. 5000,” said Mobley. “The team at Spartan Value Investors has worked exceptionally hard these past four years, and it is incredible to see that work pay off and for the company to receive this type of recognition. We’re proud of our success not just for ourselves, but for the investors we’ve helped to reach a brighter future.”
At only 28 years old, Mobley is running a multi-million dollar company that is on track to grow 800 percent this year. He left a six-figure salary and corporate career in 2010 to start Spartan Value Investors and its subset, Spartan Invest, which identifies real estate assets and offers viable investment options with exceptional rates of return after strategic improvements have been made. Spartan Invest plans to grow the number of houses sold to 200 homes per year in the next three years, and Spartan Value Investors has experienced exceeding
growth with a total revenue of $3,400,000 in 2013 compared to 2012’s $1,900,000 total.
On a local level, Mobley was also recently selected for the 2014 Entrepreneur Spotlight Award, a program in which the Birmingham Business Journal recognized excellence among the area’s trailblazing startups and successful young companies across a range of industries that have a track record of growth, an innovative business model and potential for future success.
