When it’s time to put down roots, millennial homebuyers are flocking to the Birmingham area magazine, which listed Birmingham as No. 2 in the top 10 markets attracting millennials. Millennial buyers accounted for approximately 20 percent of new-homes sold in 2013, representing a 23.9 percent increase since last year.

Our own Clayton Mobley, CEO and founder of Spartan Invest, is not surprised by these statistics and recently lent his expert opinion to al.com and The Birmingham News to explain the influx and why Birmingham is such a great place to purchase a home. In the article, Mobley says, “We’re seeing a lot of first-time homebuyers that are in the millennial age group. The article says millennials are already a major contributor to the Birmingham economy and their presence is becoming more prized as Baby Boomer workers retire. Many of the technology start-ups, the advanced manufacturing and the emerging industries that recruiters prize are targeting millennials for their workforce.
